  • Students can systematically learn the Korean language from basic to advanced levels, including skills in Korean grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will be able to use these skills to appreciate K-pop, Korean dramas, movies, etc.
  • Enable graduates to attain Level 3 or above in Test of Proficiency in Korean for further education and employment in Korean related field
  • Arrange summer Korean study tours offered by universities in Korea. Apart from learning the language, students can experience Korean culture and have a good opportunity to communicate with Korean people

Programme Information

Admission Requirements
Applicants should fulfill any one of the following requirements:
  • Level 2 in five subjects* in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination including Chinese Language# and English Language, or equivalent; or
  • Pass in one A Level or two AS Level subjects, plus five passes in HKCEE including Level 2/ Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language, or equivalent; or
  • Satisfactory completion of the Diploma Yi Jin or Diploma of Applied Education Programme; or
  • Aged 21 or above

If one of the five subjects is 'Citizenship and Social Development', the admission requirement will be "Attained" for 'Citizenship and Social Development'  and Level 2 in four other HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language and English Language.

A maximum of two Applied Learning subjects, excluding Applied Learning Chinese (ApL(C)), can be used in the application. "Attained", "Attained with Distinction (I)" and "Attained with Distinction (II)" Level in Applied Learning subjects will be considered as equivalent to Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 in HKDSE subjects respectively.

Applied Learning Chinese (ApL(C)) will be accepted as an alternative Chinese Language qualification for admission consideration for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) DSE candidates.

Internship Programmes and Field Trips

Students who take Internship (Languages and Communication) as elective will be arranged to be placed at hotels, travel agencies, Korean restaurants, Korean international schools, etc. for internship on customer service, tourist guiding, teaching or other related works for at least 60 hours.

Overseas Exchange & Learning Programmes

Experience Korea is the most popular learning activity for students. Classes will be arranged to learn Korean in Korea in summer. Students not only put into practice on what has been learned from the programme, but also experience Korean culture and expand their horizons. Students can gain fruitful experience during their 2-year Korean study at CUSCS.

Mode of Delivery

This is a taught programme. Some modules will be supplemented by on-line materials whenever appropriate. Assignments and course materials will be another important means to help students' to acquire the language skills.


Medium of Instruction

Medium of teaching will be in Korean, Chinese, and English as deemed appropriate. Learning materials will be in Korean, English, and Chinese as deemed appropriate.


Assessment Methods

The performance of participants is monitored and assessed by a variety of assessment methods, such as projects, class participation, assignments, tests and examinations.
