Admission Requirements
Applicants should fulfill any one of the following requirements:
  • Level 2 in five subjects* in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination including Chinese Language# and English Language, or equivalent; or
  • Pass in one A Level or two AS Level subjects, plus five passes in HKCEE including Level 2/ Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language, or equivalent; or
  • Satisfactory completion of the Diploma Yi Jin or Diploma of Applied Education Programme; or
  • Aged 21 or above
If one of the five subjects is 'Citizenship and Social Development', the admission requirement will be "Attained" for 'Citizenship and Social Development' and Level 2 in four other HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language and English Language.

A maximum of two Applied Learning subjects, excluding Applied Learning Chinese (ApL(C)), can be used in the application. "Attained", "Attained with Distinction (I)" and "Attained with Distinction (II)" Level in Applied Learning subjects will be considered as equivalent to Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 in HKDSE subjects respectively.

Applied Learning Chinese (ApL(C)) will be accepted as an alternative Chinese Language qualification for admission consideration for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) DSE candidates.
Note: The admission requirement varies from programme to programme and applicants should refer to the admission requirements of individual programme for details. Interview is required.
Medium of Instruction

Teaching activities will be conducted in English, Cantonese, Putonghua or Japanese as deemed appropriate. Learning materials will be in English, Chinese or Japanese as deemed appropriate.

Award of Diploma

To qualify for the award of Higher Diploma at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, a student must have completed the required modules and have passed the assessment, and have an attendance rate of at least 70% for each module.

Application Form can be submitted by the following methods:

(i) Through Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (E-APP) (Closed)

(Application Period: 7 December 2023 - 20 May 2024 and 24 May 2024 - 8 July 2024)

E-AppE-App Application Confirmation

E-APP is an internet-based system developed by the Education Bureau for the current Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) candidates. Please visit www.eapp.gov.hk for details. An acknowledgement email will be sent to applicant once the School receives the application via the system.


(ii) In Person or by Mail
STEP 1 Enrolment forms can be obtained from our Enrolment Centres, Head Office, downloaded from website, or via fax at 2367 2593/3110 0611. 
STEP 2 Complete the enrolment form and send copies of supporting documents and application fee (HK$200*) to one of the Enrolment Centres in person or by post to "School of Continuing and Professional Studies, CUHK, 13/F, Oriental Centre, 67 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui", specifying "Programme Application". Applications will be processed only when the completed enrolment form, copies of supporting documents and payment are received.

Please refer to "Payment of Application Fee" and do not send cash by post
STEP 3 Receipts will be issued to students enrolled, but the School will not be responsible for any loss of receipt dispatched by regular mail. There is an administrative fee of HK$50 on every request for an additional copy of the receipt. If you do not receive the receipt three calendar days prior to course commencement date, please check with the Enrolment Team at 2209 0290 or respective programme staff.

Tuition Fees & Payment Methods

Tuition Fees

HK$67,580 - HK$74,910 each year. Tuition fee for Higher Diploma Programme in Early Childhood Education is HK$80,730 each year. Tuition fee for Higher Diploma Programme in Social Work is HK$96,320 each year. Tuition fee for Higher Diploma Programme in Health Care is HK$96,300 each year.


Payment of the Application Fee

  1. Cheque/Bank Draft
    1. Crossed cheque/bank draft should be made payable to "The Chinese University of Hong Kong" and returned together with your enrolment form in person to our Enrolment Centres during office hours or by post to "School of Continuing and Professional Studies, CUHK, 13/F, Oriental Centre, 67 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui", specifying "Programme Application". Post-dated cheque is not accepted.
    2. Please write the applicant's name, contact phone number and programme code(s) on the back of each cheque/bank draft. Cheque/bank draft will be returned if programmes enrolled are full or cancelled.
    3. If the cheque is rejected by bank, the applicant concerned will be required to pay the application fee within three working days upon receipt of notification from the School. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of enrolment.
  2. Faster Payment System (FPS)
    Payment can be made via FPS* (for details, please refer to the guidelines of individual banks). Applicants should enter their contact phone number and programme code(s) in the "Message to payee"/"Notes"/"Remarks" field. After completion of payment, a record of the "Confirmation"/"Payment Completion" page (showing the information of payee, payment amount, payment date, reference number and message to payee/notes/remarks) should be sent together with the enrolment form to Enrolment Centres via email at scs-enrol@cuhk.edu.hk for verification.

  3. EPS/AlipayHK/WeChat Pay/Octopus
    EPS/AlipayHK/WeChat Pay/Octopus payment can be made at Enrolment Centres.
  4. Visa/Master Card
    1. Card holder's name, card number, card issuing bank and expiry date should be completed clearly in enrolment form, which should be returned in person to our Enrolment Centres during office hours or by post to "School of Continuing and Professional Studies, CUHK, 13/F, Oriental Centre, 67 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui", specifying "Programme Application".
    2. If the card payment is rejected by bank, the applicant concerned will be required to pay the application fee within three working days upon receipt of notification from the School. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of enrolment.

Notes for Application for Refund of Registration Fee
(Applicable for the applicants who have accepted an offer from JUPAS for (i) a full-time UGC-funded1 undergraduate programme, or (ii) an undergraduate programme subsidised under SSSDP2 only)

  1. If applicants have accepted an offer from JUPAS for (i) a full-time UGC-funded 1 undergraduate programme (programmes offered by HKMU are not UGC-funded), or (ii) an undergraduate programme subsidised under SSSDP 2 , they are required to submit the applications for refund of registration fee to the School before the following deadlines:

    1 UGC-funded programmes, i.e. University Grants Committee-funded programmes, for the 2024/25 academic year are provided by the following institutions: City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The University of Hong Kong. Programmes offered by Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU), including those that can be applied through Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS), and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) are not UGC-funded programmes.

    2 SSSDP, i.e. Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors was introduced starting from the 2015/16 academic year, refund application is restricted to applicants who have accepted a first-year-first-degree programme offer. Eligible programmes are listed on SSSDP website: www.cspe.edu.hk/sssdp
  2. Late refund applications or incomplete applications will NOT be processed.
  3. Applicants are required to submit the following documents to the School's Enrolment Centres for applying the refund:
    1. Completed application form (RE014/HD/Refundreg (APR 24))
    2. Result of JUPAS Main Round Offer/Clearing Round Offer/JUPAS Offer based on rechecking and remarking results
    3. Payment receipt of the deposit of JUPAS Main Round Offer/Clearing Round Offer/JUPAS Offer based on rechecking and remarking results
  4. It will take around 6 to 8 weeks for processing the refund applications.
  5. The registration fee with the deduction of an administrative fee (HK$200) will be refunded to the successful applicants.
